Welcome to Argument Clinic, the Newtonite’s new debate blog. This blog, written by senior Kristian Lundberg and junior Alex Feit, is dedicated to point-counterpoint discussion on various topics related to current events. These discussions include everything from interpreting school policies to developments on the national political stage. Hopefully, we will be able to provide a balanced discussion on a range of contentious issues and give informative points of view.

We actually don’t know what we’re doing.

We are a duo of a 17 and 16 year old who are not of age to vote, who live under the protection of our respective parents in one of the most out of touch locales in the United States and who have never had to support ourselves by working a 9-5 job.

Nevertheless, this country was founded on the idea that one can speak his mind at his own whim, even when he does not know anything of what he is discussing. The First Amendment allows us to spew whatever nonsense we manage to devise, which may or may not be grounded in reality.

In the end, we do hope to spur some sort of debate, and we think that we can actually provide some sort of insightful commentary that actually makes sense. Publications such as the New York Times or the Washington Post rarely offer opinions from a high school point of view, so we figured that it would be a good outlet for us to express our beliefs from a student’s perspective. Moreover, we think that having ideas butting heads within contentious debates can help get us closer to some sort of truth behind a subject, and we also hope that our readers will stick along for the ride. Maybe–just maybe–you’ll get something out of our writings.
