Girls’ swim and dive, 11-0, placed third at States last Sunday at Harvard, breaking several records and placing highest in team history, according to senior Sasha McDonald, a captain with senior Marissa Best.
The Tigers placed behind Andover and Acton Boxborough, but McDonald says she is proud of the way the Tigers performed.
“Although we were vying for first place, we are happy with the outcome,” she said.
According to Best, the team overall performed very well.
“We had lots of girls win their events and we had never placed that well before,” she said.
According to Best, the 200 medley team, which included senior Amanda Graf, sophomores Logan Gallagher and Sarah Mceachern, and freshman Serena Ly, took first place with a time of 1:53.14, breaking the meet record.
Ly also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.49 and rebroke the school record she set at Sectionals. Graf also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.03 and the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.57. Gallagher also broke the school’s 100 fly record with a time of 1:00.45.
Best added that she is very proud of the way the team performed this year.
“I’m so happy with the end of the season. Everyone worked so hard and did their best,” she said.
Best also said that she has big expectations for next year’s team, but that they will have some difficulties at the beginning of the season.
“I think next year the team just needs to keep up the hard work because they will be losing a big senior class,” she said.
