Next year, Tuesday and Wednesday morning schedules will be switched, but the rest of the days will remain the same as this year.

Next year, the current Tuesday and Wednesday morning schedules will switch, so Tuesdays will begin with B-block followed by C-block and Wednesdays will begin with A-block followed by B-block, principal Jennifer Price announced at yesterday’s faculty meeting.

Price explained that South will also be adjusting its schedule to align its first two blocks with North’s, allowing students among the two schools to take certain classes at either school.

The schedule change, she said, will be particularly helpful to students at South who wish to take advantage of this school’s Career and Vocational Technical Education program.
Under-enrolled classes that have previously been unable to run might now be able to join to form one section with students participating from both schools, she said. Some world language classes that often have smaller sections might now be able to combine with South to form larger classes. For example, instead of offering one low-enrolled section of Advanced Placement Latin at each school, one larger section could be held at one of the high schools to include students from both schools. This collaboration will allow the schools to have more options in terms of what classes they can offer, she explained.
In addition to being advantageous to students because they are able to take classes that might otherwise be too small to run, it is also helpful in terms of delegating the budget. Creating one larger section as opposed to two smaller ones will reserve a .25 FTE to be spent elsewhere, according to Price.
The district will provide transportation for students between the two schools, she said.
In this morning’s meeting, the Student Faculty Administration voted unanimously in support of the schedule change.
