A bike maintenance WIN was held by the Riding, Advocating, and Delving (R.A.D.) Cycling Club Friday Nov. 21 outside the Theater entrance, aiming to educate students on how to repair their own bikes.
In partnership with Door To Door repair, a local bike repair shop, the WIN taught bikers how to check for issues that could impede their riding. Issues to look out for included smooth tires, faulty brakes, and loose chains.
Senior Kenneth Miao, a co-officer of the club, said that teaching people how to repair their bikes will “contribute to bike safety because people will have safe bikes to ride.”
According to junior Maya Fendler, a R.A.D. club member, “There are some things you can fix by yourself and there are some things that you can’t.”
She added,”I get to learn a bit more about how it works and also support my green team people as well.”
R.A.D. is a part of the North Student Green Team, which is a collective of clubs that promote sustainability.
“Biking is just a more sustainable form of transportation,” said sophomore Maddie Bourque, a co-officer of the club.
“I would love to see more people showing up and using this opportunity,” added Bourque.
