Today, the first set of parent-teacher conferences will take place in person at North, Thursday, Nov. 20.
Registration for these conferences opened last week, with the first round of sign-ups on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Next week, families will have the opportunity to meet with up to three more teachers virtually through Google Meet.
A second round of conference sign-ups opened Monday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m., allowing guardians to schedule up to three additional meetings. In total, families may book a maximum of six conferences across both rounds.
According to Vice Principal Amy Winston, families should plan ahead when registration opens. “The slots fill very quickly, so it’s important to be ready,” she said.
Lanni Isenberg, a North parent, said, “Parent conferences can help fill in some blanks in terms of what’s happening in your kid’s school.” She added,”It’s nice to be able to talk specifically about your kid.”
According to Winston, the most common feedback she receives is that families wish they could meet with all of their child’s teachers. “That just isn’t realistic,” she said. “We limit families to up to three so that all families can make some appointments.”
Winston added that teachers remain accessible outside of conference windows via email or ParentSquare.
Lili Isenberg said, “Most of my teachers are easy to get into contact with.”
Families who need additional support, such as translation or interpretation services, are able to preschedule conferences directly with teachers.
