In our 2017 graduation print special, The Newtonite mistakenly characterized The Senior Cups separately as the “Boys’ Senior Cup” and “Girls’ Senior Cup.” This year, the administration had changed the award title to “Senior Cups,” meant to encompass students of all genders and recognize that gender is not binary.
“As we have more and more students making us aware of their identity,” said principal Henry Turner, “it is in the spirit of equity that we now refer to these awards as the ‘Senior Cups.’”
