Girls’ softball, 16-4, ended its regular season as Bay State Champions and are ready to make a deep run in the tournament.
The Tigers have great chemistry and are extremely close, according to junior Caitlin O’Hanley, a captain with junior Liv Sloane.
“Despite being practically a brand new team we have meshed really well,” O’Hanley said. “I think this is one of the closest high school teams I’ve ever been on.”
The team is excited for the State Tournament, and is hopeful to make it further than last year where they got knocked out in the North Sectional Finals.
“Winning our league was a huge goal we accomplished, which was great. Now, I think going further than last year is a goal that we must complete,” Sloane said.
The team is determined and is focused on tackling their goal of pushing deep into this year’s State Tournament, according to Sloane. “We all play great together and I think we deserve this,” Sloane said.
O’Hanley believes that the team must now play hungry in the playoffs. “Our goal for us to win the division is complete. We must now push forward and set a goal for playoffs,” O’Hanley said. “We want to return to the sectional championship and and win this time.”
The Tigers play Sunday at 4 p.m. against the winner of Lowell vs. Peabody.
