School to redraw Keys to Success Key Off

by Samantha Libraty

Within the coming week, a redraw for the Keys to Success final Key Off will occur, according to Keys to Success coordinator Michelle Roselli.
Friday during the Key Off, 50 finalists, who were randomly chosen from nominated Keys to Success students, received keys. Junior Vanessa Battista’s key started the car, so she won it.
Roselli said, “We are going to redo the Key Off because three students were not present during it. They had tests and other appointments during the last Key Off, and I was told that they would eventually come.
“To be fair, we want to give out the keys again and make sure that all students have a chance,” she said.
Manager of the Keys to Success program Christine Caron and principal Jennifer Price made the final decision to redo the Key Off, Roselli said.
“They want all of the kids, who are each deserving and worked hard to be nominated, to have a fair chance at winning the car,” she said.
Battista will not receive the used car from the original Key Off, although she is eligible to win in the redraw, Roselli added.
“She will be given compensation, because she did win the first time,” she said. “This is the best thing to do, so that everyone gets a fair and equal chance.”
