Field hockey (9-6-3) defeated Everett (9-10-1) in the preliminary round by the score of 4-0 Wednesday afternoon at Dickinson Memorial Stadium.
Two goals from senior Nicole Quinn and one each from senior Madeline Paquette and junior Rachel Hamilton provided the offense for the Tigers. Junior Livi O’ Connor also came through with a shutout performance in goal. Three of the four goals were scored in the first half.
Coach Nate Coolidge said that the team was “positioned and spaced well” and that they “worked hard getting back on defense after turnovers.”
The 16th ranked Tigers will face their toughest test of the year on Friday afternoon when they travel to Acton-Boxborough to face the top seeded Colonials (17-0-1) in the round of 16 at 3 p.m. This will be the Tigers first time facing them this year and they will have to be “flawless” and “play their game” in order to win, according to Coolidge.
Coolidge credits the Colonials, saying that they “have a lot of skill on their team” and that they “play a good team game”. It will no doubt be a tough test for the Tigers to advance to the quarter finals.
