Newtonville Village Day brought excitement to Newtonville with local artists, vendors, and live music on Sunday, Sept. 18. The event was organized by Newtonville Area Council as an annual community event.

“Newtonville Village Day is all about community,” said Mayor Ruth Ann Fuller. “You get to see everyone in your community, enjoy great music, and support small businesses.”

Some of these businesses included Donut Villa, which held its grand opening and served free food as part of the celebrations.

Tiger BeBop and Jazz Ensemble also performed during the day. Jazz Ensemble played several pieces including “Strollin with Sammy,” “Groove Merchant,” “Brasilliance,” and “Second Line” that added to the upbeat energy.

“It was my first time playing with the jazz ensemble,” said junior Jun Moon, who plays the saxophone. “Just learning from others and being able to contribute on a scale that I haven’t been able to before was really fun and exciting.”
