Field hockey defeated Waltham 1-0 Friday, Oct. 11 at Dickinson Stadium. “It was a very important game for us as we’re getting closer and closer to the tournament,” said senior Gabby Gilpin, a captain with seniors Jen Buras, and Yunah Jang, and Darcy Rougeaux.

North kept pressure on Waltham’s defense for the majority of the game, giving themselves many scoring chances. However, sophomore Ella Maher scored the team’s only goal for the win. “We dominated most of the game. What we need to work on now is capitalizing on our shots and making sure they go in,” added Gilpin.

Despite the win, North faced challenges that were out of their control, including a freezing downpour and referees that arrived late to the game. “We decided to have fun with it and grind it out together, something our team has been very good at doing this entire season,” said Gilpin.

Similarly, Rougeaux said, “Our team camaraderie has been such an asset to our playing and motivation for making the tournament.”
