Boys’ Swim competed in the Sectional Meet Sunday, a meet which went “really well” for the team, according to senior Jonah Pemstein, a captain with seniors Benjamin Cole and Bowen He. The Medley Relay and 4 Free Relay qualified for the State meet next Saturday.
Many Tigers reduced their individual event time, with junior Josh Sims Speyer dropping 2.5 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and sophomores Will Riley and Joey Yerardi dropping three seconds and one second in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke, respectively.
According to Cole, the team went into the meet looking to qualify two relays, as they were able to do, and much of this success can be attributed to the fact that the Tigers went in “ready to go.” Cole also added that even when a swimmer was not in a particular relay, “he felt that energy and it all helped” the team’s success as a whole.
The team is optimistic moving forward. As Pemstein explained, “hopefully we can build on our performances in Sectionals and improve even more” in States, the final stage of the season for the Tigers.
