Boys’ basketball improved to 18-2 Thursday with a 72-42 victory over Norwood on Senior Night.

The Tigers built a 37-21 lead going into halftime with junior Liam Bruno and sophomore Tommy Mobley providing steady scoring. The team went on to extend their lead in the second half.

Coach Paul Connolly was very pleased with the team’s performance. “I think our guys have done a great job of buying into our philosophy. We’re playing hard and shooting the ball well, and we’re getting contributions from a lot of different people.”

Connolly also praised the play of Mobley, who Connolly said has had “a terrific, terrific season.”

According to Connolly, the reputation Mobley has developed of being a dangerous scorer has created opportunities for his teammates. “When teams focus on Tommy, guys like senior Korey Mui and Bruno have stepped up. And junior Jack Boucher has made some big plays and also senior Seamus Bruno,” he said.

As part of Senior Night, Connolly acknowledged his senior players before the game, including C.J. Falcon and Mui along with T.J. McNicholas and Seamus Bruno, who are the captains with Boucher. Connolly also paid tribute to senior managers Ryan Gallagher and Kristian Sunner.

In addition to being one of the team’s managers, Gallagher stole the show Thursday as he dressed as a player for the game and got a bit of playing time late in the fourth quarter. Gallagher sank a three point from the top of the key, sparking a huge cheer from the crowd.

Going forward, the team will “continue to get better with everything,” according to Connolly. “We will be working to improve defensively, offensively, and we have to stay healthy.”

The Tigers also participated in the annual Comcast Tournament at Babson College, where they fell to BC High yesterday and defeated Danvers today in the third place game.
