Baseball, 15-5, has been having a very successful season thus far, highlighted by comeback wins over Norwood and Wellesley.
According to senior Theo Resnick, a captain with seniors Curtis Beatrice and Ben Porter, the team has been showing great potential, but need to work on consistency.
“When we play to the best of our ability I don’t think anyone can beat us. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened every game,” he said.
Resnick also added that there are two factors that have made this season tougher for the Tigers.
“We had a couple of early injuries that set us back a little bit. Also, being last year’s state champions, everyone wants to beat us and we often face the opposing team’s best pitcher,” he said.
According to Porter, because the team won the Super 8 tournament last year, the team’s goal this year is to qualify for the Super 8 tournament again.
The Super 8, according to Porter, was added last year. A committee selects the top eight teams from the state and they compete in a tournament separate from the regular state tournament.
Resnick added that the team has already qualified for the regular state tournament, and can hopefully qualify for the Super 8 tournament.
“If we win the reminder of our games then we absolutely can and should,” he said.
The Tigers face Walpole tonight and Milton Thursday.
