Baseball defeated Framingham 11-3 Friday, May 28, led by their hitting and pitching performances from stand out players.
Junior Jack Sokhos-Drude, the starting pitcher, stymied the Framingham offense, throwing five strikeouts in four innings.
“Jack did a great job and shut them down on the mound after a shaky start,” said senior Zander Gilmartin, a captain with junior Johnny Donellan. “He kept us in the game.”
In the first few innings, North jumped out to a 2-0 lead and never looked back. According to Gilmartin, who knocked in two RBIs, the team’s strong offensive start led to the teams eventual victory.
Framingham did manage to keep the game close, and North only led 5-3 entering the 6th inning.
“When the game started to get close towards the end, we put up six runs in the 6th inning and that was huge for us,” said Gilmartin, “Being able to score in bunches like that means we’re always in the game.”
North baseball, 10-7, defeated Everett 9-1 in the first round of the state tournament and will face off against Andover away, Monday, June 21.
