Boys’ lacrosse, 4-4, is hoping to win the Bay State Conference and “make a serious impact in the State Tournament,” said senior Ben Bassett, a captain with seniors Andrew DeNucci and Chris Quinn.
The Tigers took home the Suburban Cup Saturday after a 16-11 win against Waltham. Sophomore Bryce Adam was named game MVP.
Bassett believes the team has “the talent this year but so far we’ve had a tough time putting it all together. We need to finish our games and not just play three quarters of them.”
DeNucci agrees that the team needs to work on playing every game to the end.
“We also need to play smarter as a team,” DeNucci added.
Quinn believes that the Tigers must believe in each other in order to reach success.
“We still haven’t reached our full potential as a team,” Quinn said. “We seem to get in our own way at times.”
Bassett is excited for the upcoming games and knows that these are the wins that will help the team reach the postseason.
“We’re heading into the bulk of our Bay State Conference games and we expect to win all of those,” Bassett said. “We need to compete and if we can put it all together it’s going to be a successful season.”
Quinn hopes the team can work on uplifting each other and become confident during games.
“Our biggest opponent is often ourselves,” Quinn said. “We need to stop getting in the way of our own success.”
The Tigers will take on Brookline Tuesday, April 28 at home.
