Girls’ swim lost 97-86 to Milton at home on Friday, Oct. 11. According to senior Rebecca Longo, a captain with seniors Bella Donovan, Ella McNally, and Anna Rahilly, despite the loss, the team “performed well in a close meet.”

“The team worked really hard, so it’s unfortunate that we lost,” she added, “but hopefully we can beat [Milton] if we meet them again at states.”

The Tigers fell behind early in the meet but rallied to claim a five-point lead after the 1-meter dive intermission. In the subsequent 100-yard butterfly event, North’s advantage crumbled, with the team trailing Milton 47 to 44. The Wildcats controlled the lead for the rest of the meet.

Sophomore Honour Dufresne placed first in the 200-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 2:01.11, while junior Karen Tong topped the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.54 seconds. North’s leading relay team of Dufresne, juniors Alex Filipova and Megan Schneider, and sophomore Meredith Flint finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.68.

For the next meet, Longo said that the team will stick to their “general” practice routine. “For any given meet, we like to work on a variety of different sets, which includes sprint sets, kick sets, and endurance sets,” she said.

North, 4-3, will race against Wellesley away on Tuesday.
