Boys’ outdoor track competed in the Division 1 Meet Saturday, with several Tigers qualifying for the All-State Meet next week, with some events going “very well,” according to junior Jared Prior, a captain with seniors Carter Harrison, Liam McDade, and John Sava.
McDade came in first in discus with a North record of 168 feet 10 inches, senior Francis Muumba placed seventh in the triple jump with 43 feet 5 inches, and junior Ed Acuna and sophomore Nathaniel Klein threw 50 and 51 feet in the shot-put, respectively, to qualify for All-States.
Prior also qualified in the long jump, but may not compete due to injury. According to Prior, the team “had some letdowns” at the meet Saturday, and “a few relays won’t be advancing.”
The Tigers were disqualified in the 4X1 relay, and the 4X4 relay failed to place. “In the end it didn’t go the way [the team] had hoped,” said Prior
McDade added, “at this level it is a lot harder to win when so many other teams have great individual athletes,” a challenge that the team will particularly face in the last meet of the year, All-States.
