Boys’ Track finished first in the Bay State Conference meet Tuesday, winning four events while placing highly in many others at the meet.
Sophomore Nathaniel Klein won the shot put at 50 feet, and seniors Liam McDade, Napoleon Miller, and Francis Muumba won the discus, high jump, and triple jump at 159 feet, 6 feet, and 43 feet 6 inches, respectively for the Tigers.
According to junior Jared Prior, a captain with seniors Carter Harrison, Liam McDade, and John Sava, the team’s individual performances were “impressive” to see after a “grueling couple of weeks with a lot of consecutive meets.”
On the Tigers’ success at the meet, Coach Jim Blackburn said that “working hard throughout the season” contributed to strong results for the team, and that “hopefully” this will prove true in upcoming state meets, such as the Division-1 State meet Saturday.
On the final few meets for the team, McDade said that the Tigers were “extremely focused” at the Bay State Conference meet, and that “going into the postseason,” the team is “stepping [their] game up.”
Prior added that the team has a “fair amount of athletes” qualified for the Division-1 state meet Saturday, and that the Tigers “hope” to continue to have strong individual success.
