On Friday, this school’s Black Leadership Advisory Council hosted Black Culture Day, which is held to spread knowledge on African Americans and discuss the experiences encountered by African American students and faculty, according to Officer Sam Jones.
During F-block, the club held a faculty panel in the little theatre. Jones said the teachers discussed “their experiences both as students and as teachers, at North and any other schools they’ve worked at.”
Science teachers Jodie Cohen and Sheldon Reid, METCO teacher Paula Diggs, and history teacher Arielle Rochelin responded to questions from club members and the audience.
“It allowed students insight into what their colleagues experience and how they feel,” said Jones. The faculty members were “very open and forthcoming when sharing.”
