“We’re doing pretty well so far,” said senior Justin Keefe, a captain with seniors Young Guang and Swardic Mayanja.

At the meet, junior Ryan Lucken won the 100-meter with a time of 11.6 seconds and 200-meter dash with 22.9 seconds. Sophomore Gabe Montague won the mile with a time of 4:34.62.

Mayanja achieved first place in shot put with a distance of 51 ft. 9 in., as well as winning discus with 142 ft. 1 in. Keefe won the two-mile with a time of 9:49.2.

According to Keefe, the team’s strength lies in categories that it has previously been strong in while the loss of experienced runners has led to some gaps in certain events. “We lost some really good guys from our indoor team to other sports. We’re doing pretty well in long distance as well as our throwers, but we need to improve in sprinting events and fill those gaps,” said Keefe.

The Tigers are competing against Needham at Needham, Tuesday, April 10. “Even though it’s a tough meet, we don’t have time to rest for it. We have even bigger ones coming up,” said Keefe. The team expects to be successful at the meet, according to Keefe.

“We want to make some kind of impact at the State meet even though we may have lost some key runners this season,” said Keefe.

The Tigers’ goal is to overcome any difficulties and become stronger in preparation for the State meet, according to Keefe.
