Fall dance placed first in the Hip Hop Division of the State Dance Tournament at Braintree High School yesterday for the third season in a row.
The team defeated the three other competitors in the Hip Hop Division, including cross-town rivals Newton South, Burncoat High School, and Framingham High School.
“We won this title because we gave it our all on the floor,” said junior Sonia Ferre, a captain with senior Maria Bilotta and junior Lexi Gershkowitz.
Ferre credits the coaches for helping the team develop throughout the season.
“Coach Sarah told us from the first day that not only was she going to work us hard, but most importantly help us to grow and improve as dancers.”
“We are so happy to end this season off with another State title and we cannot thank our coaches enough,” Bilotta said.
The team has been working hard since August to prepare for this day, Gershkowitz said. “We all put in many hours of effort practicing the dance. As a team, we truly grew and created such a tight bond throughout the season.”
Bilotta believes the hard work from every person on the team is what has helped the Tigers become so successful in competition.
“Each girl has pushed themselves so hard to be the best they could possibly be,” Bilotta said. “We could not be more proud of how much we’ve grown as a team and as dancers overall. we are so happy to end this season off with another State Title.”
“We worked our butts off to get to where we are and we deserved this,” Ferre said. “We pushed through and fought to keep the title as State Champions! This season has been amazing and I wouldn’t have wanted to experience it with any other group of girls!”
