Football, 3-4, advanced to the playoffs this season as the sixth seed before falling to Brockton 48-14 in the first round of the South division.

“There was a lot of hype going into the season,” said senior Michael Coscione, a captain with seniors Nolan Boyer and Andrew Landry. “We were projected to be a pretty high seed.”

The team participated in a seven-on-seven league over the summer. They emerged as a top 10 team in the region in the New England Championships.

Unfortunately, the team failed to achieve the level of success they had hoped for during the preseason. According to Coscione, there were still positive takeaways. Coscione said he was proud of the second team players for stepping up, which allowed the team to endure injuries this season.

This year, the team’s receiving core and pass defense were strong. However, Coscione said that in order to succeed in the playoffs, the team’s run game and run defense needed to improve.

Boyer added that the team needed to keep up the stellar performance from the quarterback and the wide receivers to make a run in the playoffs. “We also need to improve our second-half play. We always seem to end the first half well, and the second half poorly.”

The team will play their annual Thanksgiving game at Brookline next Thursday.
