Golf defeated Milton 105-84 last Thursday at Brae Burn Country Club. According to senior Pete Delmonico, a captain with senior Jake Forbes, “It was a good bounce-back win because the previous day we lost to Needham at home by one point.”
Senior Jacob Teszler contributed to the win by shooting a two-under-par round to finish with 20 points, a team record.
“Overall the team was much more focused than the previous day, and we improved by 20 shots as a team from the day before,” Delmonico said. “It was a strong way to finish off the week and it felt good to get a win because our record was 1-2 up to that point in the week.”
Delmonico and Forbes scored 14 and 15 points, respectively.
“One of our team strengths is how close we are as a team; we have seven seniors who have all played together in previous years,” Delmonico said.
Winning their sixth match of the season, the team qualified for Sectionals.
“We can’t lose focus now that we are in the sectionals. We have to keep improving so we can qualify for states,” Delmonico added.
North, 6-2, will send its top three golfers to the Bay State Conference Championships at President’s Golf Course in Quincy tomorrow.
The three golfers representing North are Delmonico, Forbes, and Teszler.
