Golf defeated Needham 104-100 in an away match on Monday that senior Sean Fitzgerald, a captain with senior Andrew Hass, described as “the team’s best overall performance of the season.”
Fitzgerald led the team in scoring with 16 points, and junior Pete Delmonico added 14 points to North’s total.
Juniors Jake Forbes and Theo Sox were dubbed as the team’s “most crucial” pairing by Fitzgerald. He added that the team only had a one shot lead with one group remaining, but the North duo’s “great play” sealed the win for the Tigers. During that round, Forbes, who scored 13 points, and Sox, who scored 12, outscored Needham’s duo 25-22.
Fitzgerald said that the team’s performance came down to the smart decisions made by the individual players. “I think everyone played smart yesterday and avoided taking unnecessary risks,” he said. “Everyone stayed patient and trusted their own abilities.”
The team will face Walpole on Wednesday at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton.
