Golf, 3-7, lost to Brookline at the Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton by a score of 79 to 75 on Tuesday.
Junior Sean Fitzgerald, a captain, led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points. His co-captain, senior Henry Johnson, tallied 11 to add to North’s total. Freshman Declan Chamberlain also finished with 11 points.
Physical Education teacher and coach Robert MacDougall praised the performances of the fourth group, which included Chamberlain and sophomore John Ryan Byers, saying that “they kept us alive, and really gave us a chance to win the match.”
He added that while Brookline is a tough team to beat, he knows that his team wished for a better performance.
On the downside, MacDougall explained that he had hopes for more consistent play throughout the team. He added, “We have a some players who play well one day, and then the next they are a few points behind.”
To improve for the next match, MacDougall explained that his team must put in more consistent performances. To accomplish that, he said that they “need to be more confident about the shots in front of them, and need to forget about any past mistakes that they may have made.”
The coach stressed the need to learn from that match’s mistakes, and apply them to the next one.
The Tigers will take on Milton next Tuesday at home.
