Football defeated Waltham 9-7 in the Tigers’ first game of the season Saturday afternoon, a close contest in which the Tiger defense “stepped up when the team needed it” with five turnovers and the offensive line was able to “create a good run game,” according to senior Jimmy Hodgson, a captain with senior Bryce Adam.
Hodgson explained that a fumble recovery by sophomore Adam Zao was the “nail in the coffin” in the first game of the season.
The team will play Natick on Friday night in its next game, a contest that will hopefully bring continual improvement for the Tigers.
It was a good start,” Hodgson explained of the Waltham game. “But if we were playing a better team we would have shot ourselves in the foot with multiple penalties and not being able to convert when we needed to. As long as we can do that we are in great shape for the season.”
