Softball, 18-4, beat Methuen 3-1 in the North Sectional Quarterfinal.
Senior Kate Ainger helped the team with an early home run that left the Tigers up 2-0 at the end of the first inning. The Tigers kept a 3-0 lead until the top of the fifth inning when they allowed one run from Methuen.
Sophomore Gabby Vachon pitched the entire seven innings and only allowed one run. Vachon’s speed and accuracy was no match for the Rangers who struggled to get on base.
“Overall, we had a great game hitting and fielding,” junior captain Liv Sloane said. “A lot of people stepped up and got the job done. Our hitting was phenomenal and paid off. We got the win and thats what matters.”
The Tigers advance to the North Sectional Semifinal on Friday at Lowell’s Martin Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
