Girls’ softball, 6-0, is hoping to clinch the North Division and advance to the State Tournament, according to junior Caitlin O’Hanley, a captain with junior Liv Sloane.

O’Hanley predicts the team will easily make the tournament if it continues with its winning streak. The team must continue to push themselves and overcome challenges.

“Coach Baugher likes to remind us about the team that won the State Championship in 2012,” O’Hanley said. “It definitely motivates us to be as good as them.”

O’Hanley believes the team is working well as a whole, and is pleased with the entire teams’ contributions. Upperclassmen and underclassmen are meshing and working together to form a successful team.

“Our freshmen, Caroline Bass and Elizabeth D’Agastino, are really stepping up. They fit in perfectly with the team and have already helped us win a couple of games,” she said.

Sloane believes the young team has plenty of potential for years to come and will continue to improve with time.

“Even though we are a young team, everyone gets along well,” Sloane said. “The chemistry is there.”

O’Hanley believes building the team during preseason was the biggest struggle. There were many roles that needed to be filled.

“We only have four returners from last year so it was basically a new team,” O’Hanley said. “Building the relationships and trust was a worry at the beginning.”

O’Hanley believes the team has quickly come together as a whole and that this camaraderie has lead to the team’s early success.

Sloane hopes the team will push far into tournament and hopefully win the state title.
