JV boys’ soccer, 5-6-3, improved both at practice and during games, according to junior Mac Hecht, a captain with junior George Antonakas.
“We played really well as a team when we had momentum and energy,” he said.
In one of the first few games of the season, the Tigers defeated Walpole 3-2 at home Friday, Sept. 7. The team was down 2-1 and scored the tying goal in the second half, which gave the team momentum to score the go-ahead goal.
However, for this team, winning was not everything.
“JV is all about preparing us for Varsity,” Hecht said. “It’s less about winning games and more about developing and improving.”
The team took advantage of its momentum not only in games, but also throughout the season overall.
At the beginning of the season, the team’s weakness was fundamentals, according to Hecht. “Specifically, we had a lot of trouble with passing.”
However, with time, the team was able to pick up the slack. “Our coaches did a good job working with us on it, and by the end of the season, it was definitely improved,” Hecht said.
