Thursday during the school-wide anti-bullying lesson, principal Jennifer Price made an announcement over the loudspeaker, informing students and faculty about a student who “recently posted a threatening statement to our school on Facebook about Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day,” which was last Wednesday, she said in the announcement.
Price acknowledged how proud she is that a student brought this issue to the school’s attention immediately, saying that “this type of trust and communication is so important to maintaining the safety and connectedness of our school community.”
She also informed the community of the current status of the situation. She said that the student has “since apologized for his actions” and that he will be returning to school later this month.
She asked students and faculty to give this student a second chance to “make amends and move forward.”
