ToBGLAD Day: Teachers talk about personal experiences as members of the LGBGTQ community

Senior Lillia Baird asked math department head Nicole Conway, guidance counselor Michael Ford, and English teacher Bradley Jensen questions about their experiences as members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community during E-block’s edition of Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day (ToBGLAD) in the auditorium during E-block yesterday.

ToBGLAD: Students read writing, exhibit art, perform in annual Speak Out

Students participated in Speak Out D-block yesterday in the auditorium as a part of Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day (ToBGLAD). The Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) organized this on-campus event which involved students reading both their own work and other published pieces, as well as a dance performance and two a cappella groups.

Members of the Newton and greater Boston transgender community educated students and faculty about what it means to be transgender as part of the Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day (ToBGLAD) in the auditorium during C-block yesterday. Students were encouraged to ask questions, and junior Sam Taylor, a co-officer of the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), mediated the discussion.

Faculty share reactions to threat

by Amanda Hills During the week of Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day, which was on Wednesday, March 7, a student at this school posted a threatening statement on Facebook, according to principal Jennifer Price. Concerned students notified vice principal Deborah Holman and Price, according to Holman.

by Amanda Hills Thursday during the school-wide anti-bullying lesson, principal Jennifer Price made an announcement over the loudspeaker, informing students and faculty about a student who “recently posted a threatening statement to our school on Facebook about Transgender Bisexual Gay Lesbian Awareness Day,” which was last Wednesday, she said in the announcement.
