Members of the Model United Nations (MUN) club won three awards at EagleMUNC, a conference with over 750 students organized by Boston College Friday to Sunday, March 22, 23, and 24.
Senior Greg Licholai, the club’s under-secretary general, won ‘best delegate’ as the Chilean Minister of National Defense. Senior Filippo Menozzi won an honorable mention as Germany, and freshman Noah Lyons won an honorable mention as Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At each conference, students represent countries as delegates in different committees. Each committee has a set of issues to address and tries to come up with various solutions to the problems. Licholai was in the Presidential Cabinet of Chile committee. Menozzi and Lyons were in the World Food Program committee.
Menozzi said the MUN club prepares for conferences by addressing varying topics each month. “We have four or five meetings for every topic, and we try to come to conclusions. It’s really interesting for anyone who’s into diplomacy, public policy, or politics in general.”
