Yesterday morning, mayor Setti Warren hosted the annual Massachusetts Mayor’s Association luncheon at this school. Governor Deval Patrick and 22 mayors from surrounding cities attended.
The event began in the Tiger’s Loft Bistro, where Patrick addressed the group. Immediately after his remarks, the entire group visited the Innovation Lab. Attendees were split into groups and assigned a student from the Lab who would act as their tour guide. Students presented the Lab’s latest projects, demonstrating and explaining each product’s functions.
The Ligerbots and media lab also displayed their work.
Patrick said that the Innovation Lab’s projects showed him that “there are a lot of smart people doing some really smart things.”
He continued, “It’s fun and exciting to see. Not just for the students themselves, but for the future of the Commonwealth.”
Patrick also pointed out that this State is “the third most important center for video game development in the country,” and that the media lab’s animation projects are right in line with that status.
He praised the students for their work, saying that “we need that talent.”
The guests concluded their visit with lunch in the Tiger’s Loft.
