In its first class elections, the Class of 2016 elected Sophie Tavolieri president and Benji Cole, Nate Hollenberg, Amanda Kuo, Zach Rubin and Alex Weylman vice presidents. No students ran for the Student Faculty Administration.
Tavolieri said she decided to run so she could initiate a more comfortable atmosphere among the grade. “We should have our grade get to know each other a little more,” she said.
Tavolieri has no worries beginning her term as president because “this is a great group of kids,” she said.
She concluded, “I hope to create a fun, enjoyable, exciting, memorable freshman year.”
Hollenberg said he hopes to accomplish a lot as vice president, including organizing an off-site class dance, designing class sweatshirts and encouraging his classmates to participate in community service events. For example, he said, students could help organize birthday parties for homeless children through Birthday Wishes, an organization with which he has been involved since sixth grade.
Overall, he said he hopes to make his class the best in the school. “I will do everything I can for the Class of 2016,” he said.
