Against Braintree, Thursday boys’ track claimed a 82-13 victory, gaing a 1-0 record, according to senior Young Guang, a captain with seniors Justin Keefe, Swardiq Mayanja and Nate Menninger.
In the mile, senior Justin Keefe placed first overall and first on the team with a time of 4:37.62.
Sophomore Gabe Montague placed sixth overall and first on the team for the 1000-meter with a time of 2:45.30, while senior Nick Fofana placed fourth overall and first on the team for the 55-meter hurdles at 8.62.
In the 600-meter, junior Daniel Swain placed second overall and first on the team at 1:28.92.
Junior Ryan Lucken placed first overall and first on the team for the 300-meter, and third overall and first on the team for the 55-meter with times of 36.59 and 6.99, respectively.
Junior David Demarest, for the two-mile race, placed tenth overall and first on the team with 10:53.53.
In shot-put, Swardiq Mayanja placed first overall, while Guang placed second with distances of 15.84 meters and 14.27 meters.
Fofana placed third overall and first on the team for the high jump with 1.77 meters.
Overall, the team placed first in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:37.33.
Mayanja and Lucken “were the team’s outstanding performers, because they both put up marks, which are number one in the state,” Guang said.
Guang said, “We’re hoping that their time will improve, so they will be able to score highly at the State Meet.”
According to Guang, Menninger “had a good performance in the 55-meter.”
Based on what he has seen, Guang said he opes that the team will win the State Finals this year.
