Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is organizing a holiday food drive to be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, according to senior Kevin Wu, the club’s president.
The club is asking for packaged or canned food donations, he said.
“All donations will go to Greater Boston Food Bank to help people in need because we have created a collaboration with them,” Wu said.
FBLA decided to hold to food drive because it wanted to tackle a large citywide project that would help students learn about running a business, he added.
“A large aspect of business is learning how to communicate effectively and work with a team, so we wanted to do an event that would help develop these skills,” Wu said.
The food drive is a great way to help others, and it is connected to business, he said.
Wu added, “ The holiday season is coming up, and there are many people out there who are not fortunate enough to have a lot of the resources available to us.”
The drive will take place in four Newton locations: Tiger Drive, the Auburndale Star Market at 2040 Commonwealth Ave., Whole Foods at 647 Washington St. and Whole Foods at 916 Walnut St., according to Wu.
FBLA will have tables and boxes set up at these locations to collect food donations, he added.
