Boys’ basketball defeated the Framingham Flyers in a sweeping 96-42 win Tuesday, Jan. 28 at home.
“I thought we played hard and played together, which is what our coaches try to get us to do every game,” said senior Teagan Swint, a captain along with Nicky Spinelli.
The first quarter started with the Tigers down, but they quickly took advantage of rebounds, resulting in a 21-10 lead.
“We had a good display of the team, passing the ball and making the extra passes to the open teammate,” said special education teacher Paul Connolly, the head coach.
In the second quarter, the Tigers were dominating in three-pointers, keeping them pumped for the rest of the game ahead.
“On offense, we played unselfishly and moved the ball to get open shots,” added Swint, “which is why we were able to overcome the halftime deficit to win.”
In the third quarter, North secured early points to keep distance in the score but struggled with some fouls leading to turnovers for the Flyers. Luckily, the Tigers were able to recover, ending the third quarter leading 84-36.
“We play hard all the time, and we continue to play hard,” said Tom Donnellan, assistant coach. “That’s why we kept putting up points.”
By the fourth quarter, North had secured a massive lead but the Tigers still fought with grit and perseverance until the final whistle.
“I thought our guys were playing very unselfish basketball,” said Connolly.
North, 14-1, will face Natick away Tuesday, Feb. 4.
