Students excitedly filled the auditorium, Wednesday, Sept. 3, as TheatreInk hosted its 24th annual open house to welcome new students interested in theater.
The open house was an opportunity for students to learn about how to become involved in different TheatreInk opportunities through meeting students leaders, and staff.
The open house began with speeches from the adult TheatreInk staff and advisors, then provided an overview of the different TheatreInk events that will take place later in the year.
“The interest meeting really shows off the diversity of opportunities and how professional each opportunity is,” said senior Arnav Travers a member of TheatreInk.
After the presentations, students were allowed a chance to visit different areas of the auditorium depending on what they were interested in.
“There is a booth for every team, for example, props, stage crew, student producing, auditioning for heathers, and more,” said Adam Brown, the director of Theater Ink. “Students can go up and talk to individuals and sign up in terms of what they may be interested in.”
Students can meet the directors and learn about auditions and how to become a member of TheatreInk’s community.
Senior Ellie Marchesseault, another member of TheatreInk said, “It was mostly for freshmen to get involved, and learn how to get involved for shows and also how to get involved in different departments.”
Travers adds that there is a big difference between high school and middle school theater. He says, “Seeing shows and attending stuff like the interest meeting really demonstrates the ‘next level’ high school theater has.”
