Although we are all stuck in quarantine, it is important to find ways to release stress and stay physically and mentally healthy. While it may seem like a daunting task, here are a few ways to stay healthy:
- Get outside! According to physical education teacher Lauren Baugher, taking in Vitamin D is a great way to improve your mental and physical wellness. Even if it’s just opening the shades to let the sun in, taking in Vitamin D is very important!
- Go for a run! Freshman Kate Larson has been trying to go for a run everyday. “It’s a nice way to not have to think about anything and to just let loose and do something that’s not related to school or to covid” she said.
- Go for a walk or a hike! “I think it’s important that they’re doing something that they enjoy and something that hopefully will be something that they might wanna continue with” said Baugher.
- Try an online dance or yoga class! According to Baugher, there are so many online classes, from yoga to interval training, that are great options and now is a great time to try them out!

- Call a friend or relative! “I think health isn’t just physically but also mentally so check in with people that they care about and try to maintain friendships and relationships that mean a lot to them,” said Baugher.
It is a stressful time so it is okay to cut yourself a little slack but “doing something is better than not doing anything at all,” said Baugher. So go outside, call a relative, raise your heart rate, and stay safe.
