Football, 3-1, defeated Needham 7-6 in the Tigers’ annual Friday Night Lights game.
According to senior Nathaniel Klein, a captain with seniors Bryce Adam, Isaiah Bowden, Jimmy Hodgson, and David Salazar, “It’s a spectacular experience playing football under the lights at home with nearly the entire school out there supporting you. It gives the game a little more meaning.”
It was a close game in which the Tiger defense was key to the victory, Klein explained. The Tigers were able to block an extra point attempt by Needham after their only score of the game.
Klein went on to explain that great play by David Salazar and that Hodgson and junior Willy Hodgson “came up play after play stopping a powerful Needham running back.”
The team will play at Braintree on Friday night in its next game, a contest that will hopefully show an improvement in the offense’s play.
“Our offensive has struggled with consistency and finding a rhythm,” Klein explained of the Needham game. “We couldn’t put together very good drives and our defense is always bailing us out. It’s time for us to step up.”
