Boys’ outdoor track, 5-1, had several Tigers compete in the All-State meet Saturday, with senior Liam McDade and junior Jared Prior qualifying for New England’s next week in discus and long jump, respectively.
McDade finished second and Prior finished third in their respective events, performances that coach Jim Blackburn pointed out in the All-State Meet.
Although the team failed to win the meet, Prior, a captain with McDade and seniors Carter Harrison and John Sava, said that the team did not expect to win this season against such strong competition.
“Teams like Andover and St. John’s have been unbeatable at championship meets recently. They have a lot of athletes who finish in the top three.”
According to Blackburn, All-States was not “as strong of a finish as past seasons, but was not too bad” to end the year.
The Tigers will look to take back the State Title next year, although the team “did not come close to winning” this season at All-States.
