Beginning this spring, students not testing will remain home for the morning of ELA, Mathematics, and Physics MCAS testing days. However, specific classes, such as AP courses, may still meet.
The change, made jointly by this school’s and South’s administration, is a direct result of increased enrollment and need for more rooms and proctors, according to vice-principal Midge Connolly. Students not participating in the tests will need to arrive at school at either 10:25 a.m. or 11:20 a.m, depending on the day.
“Students will be arriving right before lunch begins and so the day will count as a full school day. Students will be missing only one to one and a half more class hours then they had in previous MCAS testing dates,” said Connolly.
The Intro Physics final exam will take place during one of the days of the Math MCAS, according to science department head Amy Winston.
Although most classes will not meet, students may be required to come into school early for separate reasons.
