In their first performance of the year, the Jubilee Singers will sing Sunday at 4 p.m. at a fundraiser for the Dover Legacy Scholars.
This fundraiser will help raise money for merit-based and need-based college scholarships to go to members of the Dover Legacy Scholars, a program at this school that matches minority students with academic advisors from the faculty.
As this is the first Jubilee Singers concert this year, the new sophomore, junior, and senior members will be able to perform with the gospel choir for the first time.
The Kuumba Singers, a gospel choir at Harvard College directed by Jubilee director Sheldon Reid, will also perform at the fundraiser.
“Helping those in need is a great thing,” said junior Swabira Mayanja, a member of the Jubilee Singers. “I love that Jubilee does these kinds of performances.
“I find that singing for these events makes me feel more human. I love seeing the happy faces on people, and just knowing I have changed someone’s life.”
