Friday, this school’s Black Leadership Advisory Council hosted Black Culture Day, which, according to Officer Sam Jones, is held to spread knowledge on African Americans and discuss the experiences encountered by African American students at this school.
For A-block, the club invited juniors Mathena Abramson, Ezeka Allen, Sadiq Ervin, Naz Knight- Carter, and Anthony Niles to speak about their time in this school as well as their everyday lives as African Americans in the day’s Black Junior Student Panel.
Jones hopes that these speakers helped the North community to see what students go through on an everyday basis, “because these experiences may differ from those of the average student.”
Jones feels that this panel will give “an opportunity to learn more about the members of the North community,” a community he feels to be very diverse and interesting. He is hopeful that the panel was enlightening for both students and teachers alike and that it will spur their further interest in African- American lives and culture.
The panel started at 7:50 in the little theatre.
