These blanched walls should be adorned with more works of art to spice up the monotony of a long day at school. Instead of walking into a hospital-like setting, students should be met by colorful creations and splashy scenery.
In order to fully develop this underutilized resource, more clubs should be formed and contests be created to jumpstart the student body’s creativity and help those with artistic ideas bring their dreams to a reality.
Currently, seniors enrolled in art major classes branch out across the school and cover the walls with their imaginations, but the idea-to-reality process seems extremely slow and leaves this school’s walls exceedingly bare.
The sleeping students and tentacled octopuses that grace the stairwells add interest to the seemingly endless maze of whitewashed walls, providing students with something colorful to look at instead of white, white and more white.
Instead of being boring dividers, this school’s walls have the ability to serve as more than bleak blocks of cement. They have the potential to be a new canvas for all of the aspiring artists that this school has to offer.
Although a small, sometimes unnoticed part of student life at this school, the artistry displayed throughout this building provides students with a unique showcase of their fellow peers’ talents while also adding a little bit of excitement to a sometimes colorless journey. The school’s current murals and works of art serve as an excellent starting point, but the development and application of more artwork should be sped up. The more artwork adorning the walls of this school, the better.
