Model United Nations sent 15 student delegates to the Brown University Simulation of the United Nations (BUSUN) Friday, Nov. 9 to Sunday, Nov. 11.
Junior Riley Heiman and sophomore Chloe Amoyal received Best Delegate awards, and senior Sejal Vallabh, the secretary general, received an Outstanding Delegate award.
Heiman, an under-secretary general with senior Gloria Li and junior Amiya Seligman, said, “This was the best the team has done in a long time, in terms of number of awards we’ve won.”
Over 800 students attended BUSUN, including students from Brazil, China and Honduras, according to Heiman.
He said that several issues were discussed throughout the weekend, including the dissolution of the USSR and space development.
This school’s BUSUN delegation spent two months doing individual research and meeting once a week to discuss the issues prior to the conference.
This school will also send Model UN delegates to Harvard MUN in January, and it plans to host a local conference sometime in the future.
