Special education teacher Dave Turcotte will be the new Adams housemaster, according to Beals housemaster Michelle Stauss.
Turcotte was chosen out of three finalists by a committee of administrators, 12 teachers, counselors, a parent and a student, Stauss said.
“We interviewed 11 highly qualified candidates, who were not all from this school,” she said.
“Dave has a great history and reputation at this school. He is a true team player and will bring a fantastic new perspective to the role,” she said.
Turcotte said, “I was really really excited and pleased to hear that I got the position. I am pleased to take on a new role and a new challenge.”
Turcotte will begin transitioning to Adams housemaster on eighth grade Step Up Day, he said.
“I will introduce myself to all of the students and faculty, who work closely with the students, to ensure a smooth transition for all of us,” he said.
“I think I have an intimate knowledge of different supports throughout the building, and I have an understanding of how to reach students, which will help me effectively do my job as housemaster,” he said.
