After qualifying for the state tournament for the first time in 18 years last season before losing in the second round, boys’ hockey will look to “win the Baystate” and “make a run in the playoffs” again, according to senior Thomas Joyce, a captain with seniors Mike Hart and Dante Leone.
Leone added that the team is “focusing on getting off to a good start and maintaining momentum throughout all three periods” of every game.
The team fell to Braintree 5-2 Saturday in its first game of the year, making its next few games increasingly important in the beginning stretch of the season.
The Tigers fell behind 2-0 early before scoring goals to bring the game to 2-1 and 3-2, but the team never held a lead before a 5-2 final.
Leone labeled it a “hard-fought game,” an effort which the Tigers will likely look to emulate going forward against Walpole on Wednesday and Milton on Saturday next week.
