The Jazz Band performed for the general public at the Newtonville Village Day Sunday, Sept. 28.
According to senior Molly Dalzell, a Jazz Band member, the group performed a crowd favorite, “The Chicken,” composed by Alfred James Ellis.
One major difference between performing outside and at this school is the “dramatically different” acoustics, said Dalzell, requiring the Jazz Band to adjust their sound to “compensate for imbalances.”
Additionally, the Jazz Band were able to play for a completely different audience. At school performances, “most of the crowd is parents and other relatives,” said Dalzell, whereas the crowd was mostly comprised of Newton residents listening to the Jazz Band for the first time.
